The Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water

Drinking a warm glass of lemon water first thing in the morning is a great way start the day.  Lemons are packed with nutrients, including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Lemons help to keep your body in an alkaline state; as well as detoxifying your liver.

Steps for preparing lemon water

Be sure to use filtered water and fresh lemons (organic is preferred).  Use 1 whole lemon for a 6 – 8 oz of water.  However, it is very important to note that when lemon juice comes directly in contact with the teeth, can ruin the enamel on the teeth. Therefore, drink lemon juice diluted or through a straw.

Lemon water has many health benefits:

Lemon water contains antioxidants

Lemon water also contains a variety of other beneficial substances and is a source of plant proteins called flavonoids. Many of which have antioxidant properties, that help protect our bodies from cell damage.

These flavonoids that we ingest from citrus fruits are beneficial to our blood circulation, insulin sensitivity, and other aspects of our metabolic health.
